  Fixing the Constitution: Is There a Better Approach to Selecting Judges?  
 
“[T]here has been a lot of news coverage regarding Tennessee’s judiciary and, in particular, the process by which people come to serve on our state Supreme Court. It is a very critical issue. Please understand this: essentially three Tennesseans can “interpret” your constitutional rights into or out of existence by the stroke of their pen.... It’s an issue about which we all must be concerned.

Leaving aside for the moment the question of whether the current process is constitutional, is our only choice between having expensive, corrupting contested elections and having virtually no judicial accountability? I don’t think it has to be that way.”   Read more here.

  Susan G. Komen Foundation under attack for de-funding Planned Parenthood  
  The Foundation will no longer make grants to Planned Parenthood. “Scurrilous accusations” being hurled at Komen for its decision. Family Research Council suggests emailing Komen and politely thanking them.
BREAKING NEWS: This afternoon Komen apologizes to Planned Parenthood and reverses its decision.

 
  Vanderbilt students pack meeting on school policy undermining Christian student groups  
  Vanderbilt students pack meeting to find out why University insists that Christian student groups can't require their leaders to adhere to Christian beliefs. Story now making national news. Maybe Vandy should be led by someone who doesn’t adhere to the school’s beliefs? (Also watch Video of the Week.)

 
  ACLU's lawsuit over Equal Access to Intrastate Commerce Act faces potential dismissal  
  Judge tells ACLU it has 30 days to explain why its lawsuit over new state law should not be dismissed. Law prohibits local governments from mandating private contractors adopt employee anti-discrimination policies that contain new "protected classes" not protected under state law.

 
  Even more nudity on broadcast TV this season  
  Nudity is becoming standard even on prime-time programs this season.  At least five such episodes on the major networks in January alone.
 
  National Marriage Week February 7-14  
  National Marriage Week aims to strengthen and increase marriage while reducing divorce.  Among other events, “Date Night Challenge,” a 2-hour webcast with Dr. Greg Smalley and comedian Jeff Allan, to be held.  Partial schedule of events in Tennessee can be found on FACT’s calendar.   Extreme irony: President's speech at National Prayer Breakfast  
  Quoting C.S. Lewis, President Obama waxes eloquent about his faith in God.  Says we “can’t leave our values at the door” only days after his administration tells religious employers they must set aside their values and pay for drugs that can end or prevent a pregnancy.

 
  Should Republicans soften due to "electability" issue?  
  David Limbaugh argues that Republicans should vote from their hearts and not surrender to pressure to abandon their passion for true conservatism.   Washington one step away from legalizing gay marriage  
  Washington state Senate passes legislation legalizing gay marriage. State House expected to pass it shortly, and governor has promised to sign bill into law. Starbucks comes out in strong support of the legislation.
