  Obama mandate taking away religious organizations' rights causes firestorm  
  Obama forcing religious organizations to violate their beliefs by providing abortion-inducing drugs and contraceptives in health plans is about taking away freedom of religion from all Christians, not just Catholics. Richard Land: “Administration has declared war on religion and freedom of conscience.” Albert Mohler: “Obama administration trampled religious liberty under the feet of the leviathan state.”  BREAKING NEWS: This afternoon Obama says requirement to provide such free coverage will be transferred from religious organizations to their insurers. One Congressman calls it a “fig leaf, not a compromise.”

 
  Two judges overturn will of 7 million Californians by upholding gay marriage  
  “Proposition 8” state constitutional amendment defining marriage between a man and a woman, passed by 52% of voters in 2008, declared unconstitutional. Judge writing opinion widely regarded as most liberal judge on most liberal federal appellate court.  Next step: U.S. Supreme Court.

 
  Why Planned Parenthood so viciously attacked Susan G. Komen Foundation  
  Planned Parenthood, a $1 billion a year organization, stood to lose 6/10 of 1/1000 of its budget from Komen’s initial decision (later reversed). But it wasn’t about the money. Komen loses more than top exec quitting; it loses its reputation as millions now know that some money Komen raises goes to the largest abortion provider in the country.
 
  Big three TV networks again show bias  
  Study shows major networks rushed to defend Planned Parenthood when Komen initially decided to defund it. And when Obama administration announced religious organizations must provide coverage for abortion-inducing drugs against their beliefs? Deafening silence.

 
  Just because it's legal doesn't mean it's right  
  Vanderbilt law student has it right when it comes to university prohibiting Christian student organizations from requiring leaders to adhere to their beliefs. Vanderbilt’s Vice Chancellor has it wrong when he said, “We don’t want to have personal religious views intrude on good decision-making on this campus.”

  Legislature to consider bill protecting religious freedom rights of teachers  
  Tennessee legislation to be considered soon preventing school boards from entering into agreements with groups like the ACLU that infringe upon First Amendment rights of school personnel and students. Bill itself can be found here.  
  Mississippi bill could mean life imprisonment if parents spank children  
  Mississippi’s legislature considering bill that could result in parents who spank their children facing up to life imprisonment. HSLDA worried that bill’s language leaves too much interpretation to individual judges.

 
  Washington state to legislatively enact same-gender "marriage"  
  State Senate and House have both approved bill to recognize same-gender “marriage”.  Governor has vowed to sign it shortly.  Bill was backed by Starbucks, Nike and Microsoft.

 
  Planned Parenthood sues Tennessee for denying it grant money  
  Never hesitant to push others around, Planned Parenthood sues Tennessee to get back the Title IX money it lost in this year's state budget.
 
  National Marriage Week February 7-14
