  Commodores or Con Artists?

Merriam-Webster’s dictionary defines “misrepresentation” as “to give a false or misleading representation of [something] usually with an intent to deceive or be unfair.”  Of all the institutions in our society that one would think would be the least likely to engage in misrepresentations, it would be our institutions of higher learning. Yet one of our state’s most prestigious universities has engaged in not one but several misrepresentations to both government officials and to you.  Read more.

House committee approves bill reforming state's broken sex ed laws
In a very positive development for Tennessee’s families, the state House Education Committee has recommended for passage House Bill 3621. The bill, brought to the legislature by our legislative arm, Family Action of Tennessee, would make it clear that our public schools are to focus on abstinence and not promote, encourage, or condone sexual activity among our young people. Its companion bill, Senate Bill 3310, previously passed the Senate by a vote of 29-1. Learn more about HB 3621/SB 3310.
Christian students and alums ramping up opposition to Vanderbilt's policy
Vanderbilt students hand out MP4 players loaded with a video opposing the school’s “all comers” policy that requires Christian student organizations to allow leaders who don’t share their core beliefs. One of the biggest contradictions exposed by students and alums is the administration’s defense of its secular fraternities and sororities that blatantly discriminate not only in choosing leaders but in determining their members when, at the same time, Vandy’s officials claim that the policy being applied to Christian organizations is all about “rejecting discrimination” and not at all about “restricting religious freedom.” View video here.
How should our state Supreme Court judges be selected? And why is this important to you?
Various resolutions to amend the state constitution to reform the judicial selection process for appellate judges have been proposed in the Tennessee General Assembly, and one (or more) of them will likely be chosen by the legislature next week. Since these judges get to tell you what your constitutional rights are or aren’t based on how they “interpret” the state constitution, knowing what type of amendment may be put on the ballot for you to vote on, as well as the differences between them, is important. Learn more here.
Abortion and gay marriage less important to some born again Christians than to general population
Not surprisingly, a new Barna study found that “the worldview of different religious segments of the population significantly impacts the issues they care about the most.”  What was surprising was that in choosing a presidential candidate, abortion and gay marriage were even less important to non-evangelical born again Christians than they were to the general population.   Pro-abortion and homosexual activists use sirens to squelch conservative values rally
The hypocrisy of the left, which claims to defend free speech, desire a more civil discourse, and demand tolerance, is graphically demonstrated in this short video showing a small group of pro-abortion and gay activists squelching a Family Research Council and Heritage Foundation rally by using sirens attached to bull horns to emit an ear-splitting sound.
Obama administration won't force federal contractors to provide special protections for homosexuals - yet
When the Obama administration announced recently that it will not issue an Executive Order compelling private businesses that contract with the federal government to provide special protections to homosexuals and cross-dressing individuals, interestingly it said that an order will not be issued “at this time.”

ABC dives into sewer with its latest show, Don't Trust the B---- in Apt. 23
The Parents Television Council describes this new show as “a sexist mixed-bag of hedonism, drug-use, alcohol abuse ... and explicit levels of promiscuity that are shocking even by today’s broadcast TV standards.” Its premiere showed the lead character, Chloe, betraying her roommate by having sex with her roommate’s fiancé on a birthday cake; Chloe giving alcohol to a 12-year-old; Chloe walking around naked in front of a stranger; and multiple uses of the b-word. Read more here. [Warning: Some of the language and scenes depicted are explicit.]
Births to cohabiting heterosexual couples jump significantly over last decade
According to a study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention of more than 22,000 men and women, the number of births to unwed couples who are cohabitating has increased over 50% in the last ten years, from 14% in 2002 to 23% of all reported births.
