Write your members of Congress to tell them to SAVE Job Corps !
Job Corps is the nation’s largest residential employment and job training program. It provides most of its students with residential services as well as health care, counseling, food, clothing, security, social skills training, parenting classes, world-of-work classes and other support services. There are ~25,000 students on Job Corps campuses, thousands of whom were homeless or in foster care before joining Job Corps. When campuses close in a few days, these students have no "home" to which to go. The program's 3 million alumni show that #JobCorpsWorks! For more than 60 years, it has provided life-changing education and training to young people seeking a brighter future.
The stakes are even greater than individual opportunity. Job Corps plays a vital role in our economy. It strengthens local communities by preparing young people for the workforce, supplying local businesses with skilled, ready workers, and driving economic growth. Across the country, Job Corps graduates fill essential roles in healthcare, construction, IT, and more – industries where talent is urgently needed. Eliminating Job Corps would not only hurt individuals, it would undermine businesses and communities that rely on a pipeline of trained workers to thrive. For many reasons, Job Corps is needed now more than ever.
You can help! IT'S NOT TOO LATE. Students will be on campus for a few more days. Write your members of Congress and tell them to #SaveJobCorps!
