    ON MARCH 7, 2013, THE SENATE ADOPTED AMENDMENT #1 AND PASSED SENATE BILL 549, AS AMENDED.

    AMENDMENT #1 creates an exemption to this bill's prohibition against non-U.S. citizens being present in polling places for any non-U.S. citizens who are providing assistance to a voter at the voter's request under present law that authorizes any voter who claims, by reason of illiteracy or physical disability other than blindness, to be unable to mark the ballot to have the ballot marked by any person of the voter's selection.
