The Iowa Senate is considering dangerous new amendments to HF 711 that threaten to undo all the progress made in 2023 to unify barbering and cosmetology programs. These changes would:

• Alter the scope of practice for professionals
• Allow hair cutting without a license
• Expand apprenticeship programs with little oversight

This bill is being pushed by an out-of-state think tank—not Iowans—and it puts the health and safety of our clients and industry at serious risk.
