DERMATOLOGISTS - Contact Congress Now
Proposed Medicare cuts threaten skin cancer care for seniors, just when early detection matters most.

CMS has proposed cutting dermatology reimbursement by 11% in Year 1, escalating to an estimated 15–18% annually under the CY 2027 Fee Schedule. These unprecedented reductions stem from two deeply flawed policies: gutting reimbursement for specialty-specific practice expenses and slashing payments for same-day procedures.

Crucially, roughly 90% of the top 50 procedural codes targeted for cuts are the exact codes dermatologists use every day to diagnose and treat skin cancer. In many states, these cuts will drive Medicare rates below Medicaid, forcing practices to limit Medicare patients, consolidate, or close.
1 in 5 people have a personal history of skin cancer, and that number is higher among Medicare beneficiaries. That means a significant portion of your constituents need the care we provide, and it is the least expensive, highest-quality option for them.

Without immediate intervention, seniors will face longer waits, greater travel distances, and delayed diagnoses, turning treatable skin cancers into advanced, more expensive, and deadlier disease.

Every voice matters. Please take one minute to urge Congress to tell CMS to withdraw these devastating cuts. Feel free to personalize the message with insights from your own practice and community.
