Medicaid programs provide critical care to our most vulnerable populations, including pregnant women and children, but on average, Medicaid payment is only 66% of the Medicare rate for primary care services. These inadequate payment rates are exacerbating the financial distress that primary care practices face every day.
Moreover, low reimbursement rates make it challenging for family physicians to accept more Medicaid patients. This has created substantial barriers to accessing care for some of the most vulnerable patients. The Kids Access to Primary Act (H.R. 952) is bipartisan legislation that would improve access to primary care for children and families by ensuring that Medicaid pays at least the same rate as Medicare.
Congress must pass this legislation to increase timely access to comprehensive primary care for Medicaid enrollees and ensure that family physicians can provide high quality care to patients. Ask your Representative to cosponsor the Kids’ Access to Primary Care Act (H.R. 952) TODAY!
