Speak Out to Urge Your Governor to Utilize Family Physicians in COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution for Children Under 12
Family medicine practices are essential to the success of a widespread COVID-19 vaccination effort and must be included in distribution plans that give them direct access to the vaccines.

Family physicians play an instrumental role in caring for, counseling, and immunizing children and their families and are well equipped to administer the vaccine in the communities they serve. That’s why we’re encouraging you to ask your state to prioritize family physicians and other primary care practices in your state’s vaccine distribution plans for children under 12 to ensure you have easy, direct access to pediatric vaccine vials and can provide care in a comfortable, familiar setting.

Better coordination of vaccine distribution, in partnership with state and local public health officials, can reach the unvaccinated, help people overcome vaccine hesitancy, and help ensure that COVID-19 vaccines are accessible to children, alongside other routine immunizations, as soon as they are authorized for patients under age 12.

Family physicians are on the front lines of the pandemic response — playing a critical role by diagnosing, testing, treating, and counseling millions of children and their families. Speak out now and urge your governor to include family physicians in your state's COVID-19 vaccination response!
