Delaying implementation of the proposed bidding protocols for these products will allow for a thorough review of serious concerns arising from their potential inclusion in the CB program.
The letter emphasizes the importance of proper fitting and individual support associated with these products and also spotlights the potential disruption for clinicians and patients stemming from the abbreviated timeline for implementing the bidding process in Spring 2026, given that these items have never been subject to Competitive Bidding.
The letter also expresses concerns that adding these supplies to the bidding program will not offer significant cost savings and will instead result in “preventable hospitalizations and complications,” leading to “enormous costs in Medicare Part A—far exceeding any savings realized through proposed, uncertain Part B reductions.”
DME companies who furnish these supplies are encouraged to ask their Representative to join the sign-on letter to delay implementation of Competitive Bidding for ostomy and urological products.
A pre-written message is shown on the right-hand side of the page; you are encouraged to add information to that message about how adding ostomy and urological supplies to the bidding program will impact your company and the patients you serve. Please also share this link with your colleagues and contacts and ask them to take action, as well.
You can see Congressman Smith's letter here. The letter is expected to close on Feb. 20, so please take action today.
