Improve Access for Patients Who Need Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Services
Annually, heart disease and COPD kills nearly 850,000 Americans and costs the United States over $370 billion. Yet while recent studies have shown that cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation increases positive patient outcomes and decrease costs, less than 25 percent of eligible Medicare patients receive these services. H.R. 2583/S.3481, the Increasing Access to Quality Cardiac Rehabilitation Care Act of 2023 would authorize NPs to order cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation services beginning in 2024. Urge your Representative to remove this outdated barrier that limits NP patients' access to these lifesaving services.
