Dear Massachusetts PAs,
We have a major opportunity to modernize PA practice and increase access to care across the Commonwealth!
This week, the Massachusetts Senate will vote on S.3178, an omnibus economic development bill. Senator Friedman has filed Amendment #513, Removing Barriers for Physician Assistants, which includes key provisions from our Optimal Team Practice bill (S.1502).
Legislators need to hear directly from PAs and PA students TODAY in support of this amendment. Please use our pre-written message to email your state senator and urge them to support Amendment #513 to S.3178.
This amendment would remove outdated supervision requirements for experienced PAs, enabling Massachusetts to better utilize its PA workforce, improve access to care, and help address the growing healthcare workforce shortage. Modernizing PA practice would also make Massachusetts eligible for additional federal funding through the Rural Health Transformation Program.
