Dear New York PAs,
The provision that would have removed outdated supervision requirements for PAs was unfortunately not included in New York’s final state budget. As a result, the best opportunity to modernize PA practice this year is by passing A.7988/S.7981.
A.7988/S.7981 would remove outdated supervision requirements for PAs employed by a health system or hospital, and for PAs working in primary care who have more than 6,000 hours of clinical experience. The legislation would allow experienced PAs to practice without unnecessary administrative oversight while continuing to collaborate with physicians and other healthcare team members.
The effectiveness of grassroots advocacy is clear, and your voice as a PA is essential. By sharing your story, you can help move this legislation forward and demonstrate why modernizing PA practice is critical to expanding access to care, reducing delays, and strengthening the healthcare workforce.
How you can help:
Together, we can help ensure that PAs continue to provide timely, high-quality care to patients across New York.
