Small Business Bottom Lines at Stake with HB 252
Dear friends of ABD,

House Bill 94 is in the House Economic Development/Banking/Insurance & Commerce as of 1/28/21. This bill will adjust the minimum wage for employees receiving tips or gratuities from the flat rate of $2.23/hour to a rate of 65% of the state minimum wage.

Many tipped workers are employed by small, family-owned business who will be faced with a costly burden as a result of HB 94. The Delaware restaurant industry has been crippled by the pandemic and cannot afford to pay staff a higher base rate, especially when they have already laid off many workers in the past 10 months. This bill will lead to increased lay-offs and automation.

ABD opposes this bill based on its economic impact on Delaware businesses. Please write your Representative using the draft language provided to ask them to save our small businesses and workers.
