Support public disclosure of unpaid taxes of elected officials/candidates
Dear friends of ABD,

House Bill 137 stalled in the House in May, but deserves consideration again in this session.

The bill would require all statewide and other candidates that may appear on the general election ballot to disclose whether or not all their State and Federal personal income tax returns are filed. This would also require reporting any tax due has been paid and whether or not all their real property taxes have been paid.

Implementing and/or increasing taxes is one of the most significant duties an elected official performs; voters should know if those who may levy taxing power have met their own tax obligations.

ABD supports this bill in order to ensure better transparency and accountability in Delaware state government. Improvements will lead to better decision making that impacts Delawareans like you.

Please write your Representative in support of HB 137 using the draft language provided.
