We are almost at the finish line. On June 13, the State Legislature passed a budget bill that included funding for many of ACCFB's major priorities, including:
- Funding for food banks during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond
- California Food Assistance Program (CFAP) nutrition benefits for Californians 55 and older who are deemed ineligible for CalFresh solely due to their immigration status.
- An additional one month grant for older adults and people living with disabilities receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI).
But the job is not over yet. In fact, it's entering the final, crucial phase. We need to tell Governor Newsom to adopt and sign the State Legislature's budget bill.
Send a message to Governor Newsom today and tell him to include funding for food banks, immigrant inclusion in the safety net, and SSI in the state budget.
