🚨 ACTION ALERT: Speak Up for Florida Scholarship Families! 🚨
We have an URGENT update regarding Florida’s school scholarship legislation: SB 7030 / HB 5101. The bill language has taken an unfavorable turn, and your voice is needed NOW. The House version (HB 5101) could cap scholarships, create rigid deadlines, and hurt families’ ability to access school choice. These are the protections we need in this legislation! ✅ Protect Universal Access The House’s language could cap scholarships in low-funding counties, limiting access for new families. Requiring Scholarship Funding Organizations to follow inaccurate state estimates could leave families without scholarships. ✅ Fix Unrealistic Deadlines Families must prove school admission by May 31st (returning) or July 1st (new). These deadlines are too early—families often finalize education plans in late summer when private school seats become available. ✅ Make Families Whole There are no protections for families who lose scholarships due to administrative errors. Parents should not bear the consequences of mistakes they didn’t make. Allow supplemental payments to fix this. *Special thanks to Foundation for Florida’s Future for the talking points |
