Please Urge PA Department of Education to Not Divert Federal CARES Act Money From Christian and Nonpublic Schools
As a part of the Christian School Community in PA we need to help ensure Christian Schools receive the funds that we were intended to get from the most recent CARES Act.  Unfortunately, Gov. Wolf and the PA Department of Education are looking to take most of the funding that Congress wants distributed equitably to ALL students.
Pennsylvania received $471 million in funding from Washington. However, the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) created its own set of rules to distribute that money in a manner that blatantly ignores federal guidance. The end result significantly lowers the amount of money to be passed onto Christian schools and non-public school students.
The Wolf administration is misappropriating approximately $47 million in federal funds.   This administration is purposefully harming students and their families who have chosen to enroll in Christian and non-public schools. The Christian and private schools in Pennsylvania are currently allocated roughly $19 million under the Wolf administrations' directives.   But, $66 million should be going to Christian and nonpublic schools students.    Christian and private schools' stakeholders need to take a stand against this attempt to harm Christian and private schools in the commonwealth.
