Public Service Loan Forgiveness Eligibility
Attention: ADEA Members
The dental community is speaking out—and Congress needs to hear from you!
The U.S. House of Representatives is considering eliminating Grad PLUS loans—a vital source of financial aid for predoctoral dental students.
Only federal student loans, such as undergraduate direct loans and Grad PLUS loans, qualify for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program. If Grad PLUS loans are eliminated, predoctoral dental students may no longer qualify for PSLF, which forgives student loan debt for those who serve in nonprofit, local, state or federal government settings.
This could effectively shut the door to many students pursuing careers in areas where they are most needed or in public health dentistry—and threaten access to care.
TAKE ACTION TODAY! Send the Action Alert below to your U.S. Representative. Tell them to: Protect Grad PLUS loans and preserve PSLF access for all oral health professional students.
Contact information for your Representative can be found here, under the “View Your Election Center” section.
Thank you for using your voice to support dental students and access to dental education.

ACTION ALERT
We Need You Help! The U.S. House of Representatives is considering eliminating Grad PLUS loans—a critical financial resource that makes dental school possible for thousands of students across the country. Without Grad PLUS, many students will face steep financial barriers to entering and completing dental school. But the damage doesn’t stop there.
Grad PLUS loans could also allow dental students to qualify for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program, which is a key incentive for those who choose to serve in nonprofit, local, state or federal government settings. If Grad PLUS loans are eliminated, oral health professional students could lose access to PSLF, closing off a vital pathway to careers in providing care in dental shortage areas and public health dentistry.
This threatens not only the future dental workforce, but also the availability of oral health care in districts like yours.
I urge you to protect Grad PLUS loans and preserve PSLF eligibility for oral health profession students.
Thank you for supporting oral health professional students, dental education and access to oral health care!
