Approve Regulation 13: Improve Dental Hygiene Supervision in Mississippi

The Mississippi State Board of Dental Examiners has approved a proposed change to Regulation 13 to improve the supervision requirements for dental hygienists. The proposal now heads to the Occupational Licensing Review Commission (OLRC) for approval. The OLRC consists of the Governor, Secretary of State, and Attorney General. The Mississippi Dental Hygienists' Association is calling on all dental hygienists to contact the OLRC to support this proposal.

The proposed rule change would improve the definition of direct supervision by allowing a dental hygienist to perform dental hygiene services without the dentist being present if specific requirements are met.

Now is the time to improve supervision requirements in the state!
