Keep A.I. Moratorium out f the NDAA

Thanks to the pressure put on the Senate by volunteer supporters like you, Congress didn’t hand Big Tech a decade-long free pass on artificial intelligence oversight in the One Big Beautiful Bill. But that’s not stopping some Big Tech zealots in Congress, who are trying to sneak the 10-Year Big Tech AI Moratorium into the National Defense Authorization Act. Buried deep in the NDAA is a disastrous provision that would ban states and local governments from regulating AI for 10 full years while Congress itself refuses to take any action to protect American citizens, children, workers, creators, or inventors against AI.

Misguided efforts to include this language in this critical bill for US national defense at the committee level or on the floor must be stopped immediately.

That’s not just bad policy. It’s a betrayal of conservative values.

Big Tech monopolists like Amazon, Apple, Google, and Meta already dominate the digital landscape and manipulate the flow of information. Now, Congress wants to give them a blank check to deploy AI without guardrails, no matter the consequences to American workers, children, creators, or free speech.

There’s a reason 40 state attorneys general from both parties, including from deep-red states like Louisiana, South Dakota, Tennessee, and Oklahoma, have sounded the alarm. And why the Senate voted 99-1 to strip the same provision from the One Big Beautiful Bill. They know this provision shreds federalism and bulldozes states’ rights and their duty to protect their citizens.

The Congress and federal government have no regulatory framework for AI, and yet it wants to block the only governments—states and localities—that are ready to step up and protect America’s citizens. The risks of AI are real: job losses, data exploitation, child-targeted content, grooming, indoctrination, and political manipulation at scale. We’ve seen what happens when Big Tech runs wild, from censoring conservatives to news suppression to deplatforming political opponents. This time, it could be far worse.

Congress should strip this provision immediately and completely. AI is too powerful and too unpredictable to give Big Tech a decade of regulatory and oversight amnesty. If Congress won’t act to regulate AI, at least don’t stop the states from doing it.

Tell your Senators and member of Congress: Defend our jobs, kids, and communities. Make sure the 10-year AI moratorium stays out of the National Defense Authorization Act. We don’t have to be like China to beat China.
