Please Oppose House Bill 109
House Bill 109 is legislation that would remove the 60-day waiting period for reconsidering whether to get a divorce or not, on the condition that property arrangements and child custody arrangements have been agreed upon by the two parents in an out-of-court process that drafts up a decree of dissolution of marriage.

If this bill becomes law, the 60-day waiting period would be gone even in no-fault cases in which no physical abuse has happened.

We think that this bill is unwise and that it will result in more couples getting divorces finalized when children are involved. It is a bill that makes things quicker for the adults involved, at the expense of the well-being of their own children.
