The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Reform Act of 2017
 HR 2996 would amend the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008
To modify the work requirement applicable to able-bodied adults without dependents

The number of food stamp participiants in 2000 was 17 million costing $20.7 billion.
  By 2015 the numbers rose to 45 million people on food stamps costing the American taxpayers $83 billion
