Thank President Trump and Contact Congress
about border security
Congress passed an omnibus spending bill to fund the government and provided a mere $1.375 billion of the President’s $5.7 billion request for new border wall funding.
The Secure Fence Act of 2006 already authorizes building the wall. Why has Congress not funded it over the past 12 years? President Trump was only asking for the funding to build what has already been approved by Congress. So President Trump declared a national emergency and is reallocating funds to Make America Safe Again. Now democrats are threatening to sue President Trump.
There is an emergency at the border. Immigration officers have made 266,000 arrests of criminal aliens in the last two fiscal years, including aliens charged or convicted of approximately 100,000 assaults, 30,000 sex crimes, and 4,000 killings. And there are probably many more unsolved cases that were caused by illegal aliens.
Tons of deadly drugs are flooding across the border and into our communities, taking countless American lives. More that 70,000 Americas died of drug overdoses in 2017 alone.
We should thank President Trump for his decisive action to declare a national emergency and for finding $8.1 billion in funds that will be reallocated for our national security. The president is using seized assets from drug cartels and funds already set aside for drug interdiction and military construction projects. The best use for these funds is to secure our border to keep drugs and gangs out.
“In 2005, two Democrat governors, Janet Napolitana (D-AZ) and Bill Richardson (D-NM) declared states of emergency at their borders due to surging illegal immigration, crime and violence – the same issues President Trump is citing today.” (Gary Bauer)
Congress has repeatedly granted the president power to declare national emergencies since 1976. Clinton declared 17, Obama 13, and George W. Bush 12. Donald Trump has already used this power 3 times during his administration and no one raised an eyebrow, but now democrats are threatening to sue President Trump for his legal and constitutional declaration of a national emergency at our border.
In addition to securing the border, Congress must act to close asylum loopholes, end catch-and-release, and move to a merit-based system by ending chain migration and the visa lottery.
Click on the TAKE ACTION link below to send a message to Congress to let the wall be built, not sue our President; and tell them to address the immigration crisis. Also email President Trump to thank him for upholding his campaign promise to make America safe again.
