Dog show participants and invited guests gathered at the Garrett Coliseum in Montgomery, AL to network over dinner and discuss current trends in canine legislation.  Patty Van Sicklen, AKC Regional Manager, presented a program on how AKC clubs and their members can take action to promote positive legislation and work together to oppose overreaching proposals that negatively impact dogs and their owners. 

Hosted by AKC Government Relations and the Montgomery Kennel Club on November 22, 2019, the “Dinner at the Dog Show” seminar was held at the show site following Best In Show.  Van Sicklen provided information on the many resources offered by AKC to inform and empower grassroots advocates. Attendees from five states participated in the event and shared their personal experiences. 

The next Southeastern Region seminar is scheduled for Saturday, January 18, 2020, in Brooksville, FL, hosted by AKC GR, the Manatee Kennel Club, and the Florida Association of Kennel Clubs.
