You are invited to join the AKC Detection Dog Task Force for our next webinar on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at 7:30 PM (ET).
Join the discussion of puppy training as we investigate the processes trainers take as they continue to prepare older puppies for detection jobs and for testing and evaluation by local, state and federal law enforcement agencies.
As a detection dog prospect approaches twelve months of age, it should be confident in unfamiliar places and maintain a search and stay on task despite human distractions. Demonstrating independent search behaviors and olfactory acuity while having the stamina to move energetically throughout a training activity is critical. At this stage all aspects of training and development should come together as the dog completes training and is ready to move on to advanced training after procurement.
The AKC Detection Dog Task Force is pleased to continue our conversation with industry experts:
• Bart Rogers, Chief Canine Instructor, Auburn University Canine Performance Sciences
• Tim Baird, Director of Operations Alabama, MK9 Solutions
• Stacey West, Program Manager, AKC’s Patriotic Puppy Program
The online event will take place Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at 7:30 PM (ET).
The session will last less than an hour.
Registration is required. At registration, participants will have the chance to submit up to three questions for discussion during the session.
