Whether pushed by animal extremists who are interested in abolishing responsible dog breeding, or by well-meaning legislators who hear of an animal cruelty case and believe the only solution is to implement harsh restrictions on all dog breeders, breeders have been under legislative assault. To help lawmakers understand the full array of federal and state cruelty and breeder oversight laws, the American Kennel Club Government Relations Department (AKC GR) is pleased to debut a new comprehensive policy analysis on ‘Breeder Laws and Regulations.’
AKC recognizes responsible breeders as an important asset and educational resource for their communities, and advocates for their recognition accordingly. The Breeder Laws and Regulations comprehensive policy analysis provides lawmakers, advocates, and the public with in-depth analysis, public policy case studies, recommendations, and a compilation of current federal and state laws and regulations impacting dog breeders.
