ACT NOW: Strengthen child labor protections in Alabama
Even one child labor law violation is too many. But recently, we have seen major increases in the number of children employed illegally all across the United States. And child labor law violations have resulted in severe injuries, and even death, to child workers in Alabama.

SB 119, sponsored by Sen. Robert Stewart, D-Selma, would increase accountability for companies that break child labor laws. This is an important step toward reining in bad actors that exploit vulnerable young workers.

The House Judiciary Committee will consider SB 119 on Wednesday, April 10, at 1:30 p.m., and we need your voice to help move this bill forward. Tell your representative to support SB 119.

This bill would increase the criminal penalties for violations of child labor laws. In addition to raising the fine for violations, the bill also would substantially increase the criminal classification for child labor law violations that result in the death or serious injury of a child worker.

Your representative needs to hear from you that you support SB 119, and they should, too. Email your representative now about this bill.
