Now we need to make no-cost school breakfast permanent for Alabama students. The Senate Finance and Taxation Education Budget Committee has an opportunity to ensure that our state funds no-cost school breakfast from the education budget in the 2026-27 school year.
Your state senator needs to know you support this effort to reduce child hunger. Please ask your senator to support ETF funding for no-cost school breakfast.
Making no-cost school breakfast permanent would allow Alabama schools to build on the momentum of last year’s investment. For a total of $14 million, Alabama could provide breakfasts for every child in participating public schools at no cost to the students. No-cost school breakfast allows students to focus better in the classroom. And removing unnecessary paperwork allows school employees to focus more on what matters most: ensuring our students excel.
Starting the school day with a good breakfast helps children get ready to learn. Email your state senator today and urge them to support no-cost school breakfast in Alabama.
