- Capping the amount the federal government will pay for a person's Medicaid coverage;
- Requiring states to institute work requirements;
- Reducing the federal share of Medicaid spending for the Medicaid expansion population;
- Reducing the floor for federal reimbursements to wealthier states from a minimum of 50% to a minimum of 40%; and
- Limiting the amount of tax revenue from health care providers states can use to fund Medicaid.
Medicaid serves our country’s most vulnerable populations and patients with limited access to healthcare. Over 70 million people rely on Medicaid to cover their health care services. Managed care pharmacists play a critical role in ensuring that Medicaid enrollees – of whom more than 7 in 10 are served by a Medicaid managed care plan – receive high-quality, cost-effective pharmacy benefits. AMCP is concerned that the Medicaid reforms discussed above would force states to choose between restricting eligibility, reducing the services covered under the program, or enacting painful cuts to education, public safety, and other critical state programs.
Please use the form on this page to encourage your Members of Congress to protect Medicaid. You may also include a brief statement describing how cuts to the Medicaid program would impact you and your state. You can find state-specific information using the Modern Medicaid Alliance's Medicaid Dashboard. By sharing your experience, you will help shape AMCP’s narrative of why Congress should avoid drastic cuts to the Medicaid program.
