The PA Music Therapy State Task Force continues to seek recognition of music therapy and the MT-BC credential required for competent practice. We are asking our music therapy community, consumers, and advocacy partners to participate in a Call-to-Action regarding important legislation currently in the PA Senate. Please join us in requesting that the Senate Consumer Protection & Professional Licensure Committee call up the Music Therapy Practice Act (Pashinski HB 2586) for an affirmative vote in committee so it can be sent to the Senate floor for a vote. We are asking the Committee and the full Senate to support this legislation, which passed the House Licensure Committee and House floor in June.
This bill is a title protection act that defines music therapy and music therapist, and prohibits individuals from declaring themselves as music therapists without holding valid board certification.
Please join us in this advocacy effort!
