Tell Congress: Enable Financial Security for People with Disabilities
The Ask: Use our advocacy tool to urge your members of Congress to support the SSI Savings Penalty Elimination Act to provide a common-sense fix to enhance the ability of those that rely on SSI to work and save without jeopardizing their vital benefits.

The Details:

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) is a federal program that provides monthly financial support to people with disabilities and older adults who have very low income. Under the current asset limit rules - $2,000 for individuals and $3,000 for married couples - SSI recipients have no ability to save for the future or emergencies.

The bipartisan, bicameral SSI Savings Penalty Elimination Act (H.R. 2540/S. 1234) will raise asset limits to 10,000 for individuals and 20,000 for couples, index those limits to inflation, and empower SSI recipients to develop savings, foster financial independence and stability.

Contact your members of Congress today and urge them to support the SSI Savings Penalty Elimination Act.
