Servicing of PSLF will no longer be managed through a designated loan servicer, instead transitioning to the Department of Education.
The U.S. Department of Education recently announced that beginning May 1, 2024 all management of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program will be transitioned from current servicer (MOHELA) directly to the Department of Education. As of that date, borrowers will no longer be able to access PSLF progress, certified employment, or payment counts on MOHELA's borrower portal. In addition, from May to July 2024, processing of PSLF certification forms will be temporarily suspended. Borrowers will continue to make payments to MOHELA.
We strongly recommend that all APA members actively pursuing PSLF, who have a payment tracker, promptly download their PSLF records, take screenshots, and save correspondence by April 30, as it will no longer be available on MOHELA’s website starting May 1. After May 1, all information will be available at http://studentaid.gov/.
