Join APASI’s Call for Congressional Telehealth Service Coverage Protections

The COVID-19 public health emergency spurred a dramatic expansion in coverage of telehealth services by both public and private health insurance programs. Audio-only mental and behavioral health services are an effective tool to extend mental and behavioral health services to underserved populations and in geographic areas that have traditionally lacked access to broadband Internet services. However, some telehealth coverage expansions for mental health services will last only through the end of the COVID-19 public health emergency. During the 2021 APASI Advocacy Summit, psychologists asked their members of Congress to 1) support permanent Medicare coverage of audio-only tele-behavioral health services and the removal of the in-person service requirement; and 2) co-sponsor the Tele-Mental Health Improvement Act (S. 660 / H.R. 2264) in the Senate and the House.
