Governor Hochul’s proposed FY 2027 Budget once again includes a cut to CSTEP and STEP funding by 5%.
These cuts directly endanger the success of thousands of NYS students and the strength of our future. Allowing them to stand is not an option.
For 40 years, CSTEP and STEP have served students from grades 7-12 through college, graduate, and professional schools. These programs have proven their impact in transforming lives, expanding opportunity, and developing New York’s future STEM, health, and licensed professionals.
The Association for Program Administrators of CSTEP and STEP (APACS, Inc.), is launching this statewide letter-writing campaign to ensure our voices are heard. With your help, we can urge statewide legislators to:
- Restore cuts to CSTEP and STEP
- Increase funding by 20% or $7.8 million
- Create a NYS alternative loan option for New York students pursuing graduate and professional degrees
Your advocacy matters! When we speak together, we protect opportunity, strengthen our workforce, and invest in the leaders New York State needs for tomorrow.
This letter campaign will be sent to Governor Hochul and statewide legislative leaders with just one click. Our goal is to have NYS Senators and Assemblymembers restore these cuts, increase funding by 20%, and create a NYS alternative loan option in their One-House Bills.
Be the Champion we need today, and I encourage you to invite others in your network to champion our cause! Your voice matters, and it needs to be heard!
Thank you for your support and for standing up for STEP and CSTEP.
Gratefully,
Renaldo D. Alba, Ed.D.
President, APACS, Inc.
