Please contact your state legislators to ask that they sponsor and vote for House File 3332/ Senate File 3526. The current MNCare “provider tax” process is cumbersome and expensive for psychologists. MNCare tax audits cause sole proprietors and small clinics to lose significant revenue, time, and direct client service time during audits to gather documents and meet with the auditor. During the audit process, patients have less access to their providers, and providers are unable to take on new patients. This bill seeks to remove “psychological services” from the list of rendered services subject to the Provider Tax, meaning psychologists will not need to navigate nor pay this cumbersome tax going forward!
This bill aims to:
- Help ease the administrative burden on and cost to psychologists and other health care providers, particularly those in small practices or sole proprietorships.
- Retain the MNCare insurance system, which provides health insurance coverage and healthcare to low-income Minnesotans who are not eligible for Medicaid.
- Benefit other small practice healthcare providers, such as dentists, optometrists, and podiatrists.
As you know, Minnesotans are in a mental health crisis, and our psychological workforce is dwindling. Please help us to decrease the burden on psychologists who are already practicing and newcomers to the mental health field. With that in mind, we need all Minnesota psychologists to contact their legislators and ask them to sponsor and vote in favor of HF 3332/ SF 3526!
