The COVID-19 pandemic is putting strains on the U.S. health care system, providers, patients, and small businesses. The American Physical Therapy Association continues to work with our partners and other health care organizations to advocate on a number of health care policy proposals related to COVID 19, including reducing regulatory barriers, expanding the use of telehealth, increasing production of personal protection equipment, and providing economic relief.
While Congress and CMS have taken a number of actions to address the current pandemic, APTA is urging Congress to take immediate additional steps to ensure patient safety and protect health care providers, including increasing access to rehabilitation telehealth services, ensuring access to services if a health care provider becomes unable to continue treating a patient, stopping any cuts to Medicare payment, and providing financial relief to clinics, similar to relief proposed for other small businesses.
Congress will be considering additional relief packages related to COVID-19 in the days and weeks ahead. Please take a few minutes to send an email to your members of Congress urging them to consider four policy proposals for inclusion in the next COVID-19 relief package.
