After all the fuss and partisan shouting in Congress about the federal budget—leading to a government shutdown—our nation has still only dealt with a fraction of the budget bills that need to be passed.
The Agreement to re-open the government gave Congress a deadline of January 30, 2026, to pass the remainder of the budget bills needed—including many programs important to people with disabilities.
We urge Members of Congress to pass a funding bill fully funding disability programs for FY 2026:
- Increase, not decrease, funding for programs that serve people with disabilities across the lifespan
- Reject proposals that eliminate, restructure, or block grant disability programs
- Recognize the unique and indispensable value of each of these programs and ensure their continued operation
