It’s been over 20 years since there was an increase in North Carolina Medicaid rates for speech-language pathology services. Rates today are an alarming 12% lower than they were in 2003. These unsustainable rates are forcing many speech-language pathologists to turn away Medicaid beneficiaries.
NCSHLA has spent the last several years fighting for a Medicaid reimbursement rate increase. It’s worked with the Department of Health and Human Services, the governor's office, and key legislators in the Appropriations and Health Care Committees to secure a commitment for the increase. North Carolina’s General Assembly meeting on April 24 is an excellent opportunity for representatives to review this request.
For more information, you can print out this Rate Increase Request to share with your House and Senate representatives.
Please complete the form to email your representatives in the North Carolina State House and Senate to urge them to allot appropriate funding for speech services.
