On Aug. 13, 1981, the Consumer-Patient Radiation Health and Safety Act became law. The goal of this legislation was to establish minimum standards by the federal government for the accreditation of education programs and certification and to ensure that medical and dental radiologic procedures are consistent with rigorous safety precautions and standards.
Now 45 years later, many states still do not require nationally recognized educational, training and competency standards to practice as a medical imaging or radiation therapy professional.
The National Radiologic Technologist Day of Action is a public day for the medical imaging and radiation therapy profession to be seen, be heard and be known. This is a day for medical imaging and radiation therapy professionals to engage in coordinated advocacy at the local level to promote the profession.
Join ASRT to educate decision-makers on the role of medical imaging and radiation therapy professionals and the need for patients to receive care that meets the nationally recognized educational, training and competency standards.
