The Indiana Society of Radiologic Technologists believes it is important to nurture relationships with all organizations that have an effect on the radiologic technology profession. One of the duties of the ISRT president is to attend IRS meetings each spring and fall. The ISRT has also afforded the opportunity to be on the IRS legislative committee, providing more access to legislative updates. As a result of the close relationship between radiologists and radiologic technologists, members of the ISRT legislative committee closely monitors bills that are important to the IRS, in addition to bills that directly affect radiologic technologists. One initiative of the ISRT is to achieve legal recognition of the radiologist assistant in Indiana. In addition to keeping a pulse on existing laws and regulations, the ISRT legislative committee is also looking at ways to establish standards for the RA and is working with the Indiana State Department of Health.
