Despite withering criticism and attacks, Ladapo did not support masking, or shutting down schools, society and the economy in response to COVID. He did support the early use of Ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine, and in the absence of convincing safety and efficacy data, he does not recommend COVID boosters.
Just like Jay Bhattacharya MD and Marty Makary MD, the two Trump nominees slated to head the National Institute of Health and the Food and Drug Administration respectively, Ladapo committed the unforgivable sin of bucking the pronouncements of the public health establishment (i.e. vaccine companies), and he was proved to be right.
Last week, the nomination of former Congressman Dave Weldon MD failed in the US Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee (HELP). According to Weldon, his confirmation was torpedoed by HELP Committee Chair Sen. Bill Cassidy MD (R-LA), and Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME). Cassidy and Collins rejected Weldon because for nearly a decade Weldon was the only member of Congress willing to criticize any aspect of the vaccine industry. Weldon argued that there was insufficient research to exclude vaccines as a possible cause of autism. That is heresy that put him outside the pale, even though Weldon administers vaccines in his own medical practice, he resumed after he left Congress.
US Congressman Michael Burgess MD may be the next nominee put forward by the Trump administration. Burgess has been moderately critical of the federal response to COVID. We need someone with a demonstrated record of courage, independent thinking, and public health accomplishment. That is Ladapo, not Burgess.
The establishment is telling us that Ladapo and anybody else who got COVID right, the largest public health disaster in more than a century, should be excluded from policy-making positions in the federal government. This is insane.

The CDC is in desperate need of top-to-bottom restructuring. They have been lying about autism for decades, and their habit of lying became evident during COVID.
The CDC lied about every aspect of COVID and the response to it. They lied about the origin, they lied about masks, they lied about social distancing, they lied about acquired immunity, they lied about ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine, they lied about ventilators, they lied about shutdowns, they lied about closing schools, they lied about COVID shots preventing infection and transmission, they lied about side effects, they lied about COID shots causing pericarditis in children, they about the efficacy of the shots. And everybody who paid attention knows this, which is why confidence in the CDC and the public health infrastructure has collapsed.
Weldon’s nomination failed for three reasons.
- Weldon has long been a critic of how the vaccine industry evaluates the safety and efficacy of vaccines and vaccine ingredients, but he still had sufficient confidence to use most vaccines in his own medical practice,
- The political capital necessary to overcome Cassidy and Collins’ resistance was not expended.
- The Make America Healthy Again movement mobilized support for the confirmation of Kennedy, Bhattacharya, and Makary, but we did not mobilize enough pressure on Cassidy, Collins and other anti-reform Senators to confirm Weldon.
We cannot let this happen again.
