This legislation would allow nurse practitioners, certified nurse-midwives, and other trained providers to perform these services, while updating training and competency requirements. AB 1973 has passed the State Assembly and has been referred to the Senate Committee on Appropriations, where it may be heard as early as August. As the bill advances through the legislative process, continued support is critical.
