Take Action: Protect Access to Rural Maternity Care in California

California lawmakers are considering AB 1882, a bill that would establish a Safe Delivery Fund Pilot Program to support hospitals providing maternity services in geographically isolated areas.

This legislation would provide funding to hospitals that maintain standby capacity for obstetric, pediatric, and surgical services, helping offset the cost of keeping these essential services available in rural communities. These investments are critical to preventing maternity care deserts and preserving access to care.

The bill is currently on 3rd Reading in the Assembly, positioning it for a key vote.

We urge you to contact your State Assemblymember and ask them to support this legislation.

Sincerely,
Karina Collins
