Colorado recently enacted HB 26-1044, legislation designed to improve maternal health equity and address disparities in maternal health outcomes across the state.
This law would strengthen maternal health systems by expanding provider education on cultural competence, equity in maternal care, and health disparities. It also increases opportunities for patient feedback and data collection, improves transparency around patient rights during labor and childbirth, and enhances state efforts to identify and address populations experiencing the highest rates of maternal mortality.
We encourage you to reach out to the legislators who championed this effort and thank them for their leadership in advancing policies that support equitable, respectful, and patient-centered maternal healthcare.
Sincerely,
Karina Collins | State Government Affairs Specialist
