Condemn Armenian attacks against Azerbaijan
Please take a moment to send out a letter informing the State Department, your legislators and the local media about the armed attacks of the Armenian army against Azerbaijan and asking them to take note of the ongoing Armenian aggression against Azerbaijan.
On December 29, as a part of the pre-planned attack, Armenian servicemen crossed the international border between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and staged an attack on Azerbaijani border troops in Tovuz district of Azerbaijan. After a brief skirmish, the Armenian incursion was effectively repelled.
Armenian leadership uses all means to disrupt the peace talks mediated by the Minsk Group and as a member of the Kremlin-run Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), attempts to pull Russia into the conflict. As a host of a Russian military base, Armenian leadership is encouraged by Moscow's military might, and periodically stages attacks against Azerbaijan. Last year, Armenian president Serzh Sargsyan explicitly confirmed that Armenia will "coordinate its foreign policy with Russia" (http://tass.com/world/787565). Armenia continues to occupy up to 20% of the internationally recognized territory of Azerbaijan, a staunch US-ally, energy and security partner. This April, Secretary Kerry affirmed U.S. support for Azerbaijan's territorial integrity, a core principle of international law, violated by Armenia since 1994.
In 1993, UN Security Council adopted four resolutions 822, 853, 874, 884 calling for immediate withdrawal of Armenian forces from occupied Azerbaijani territories and allowing the return of Azerbaijani refugees. Armenia is yet to comply.
We must support our allies overseas and condemn the actions of Moscow-run proxies who will do anything to harm out national interests. As its co-chair, America must call the OSCE Minsk Group, tasked with mediating the conflict, to express its indignation with Armenia's never-ending aggression against Azerbaijan and exert pressure on Yerevan to comply with norms of international law.[-] less
