Happy New Year and World Azerbaijanis Solidarity Day!
Action Alert
Dear Friends,

On behalf of U.S. Azeris Network, we would like to extend our warmest wishes on the occasion of the incoming New 2018 Year and World Azerbaijanis Solidarity Day. As you know, every year on December 31, Azerbaijanis around the world mark the International Day of Solidarity of Azerbaijanis, a holiday related to the incident on Azerbaijan-Iran border which took place on December 31, 1989 when ethnic Azeris on the two banks of Araz (Arax) river broke down the border installations separating the geographical Azerbaijan and one nation. The Conference of the Turkic People being held in Istanbul at the time of the incident declared the event as a noteworthy occasion for celebration of world Azerbaijanis which for nearly two centuries were separated by artificial borders. On December 16, 1991, the Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic, Heydar Aliyev, declared December 31 as the World Azerbaijanis Solidarity Day. The holiday has since been marked every December 31. We at USAN cherish this holiday as an important symbol of unity among Azerbaijanis around the world. May all of you keep strong bonds, live in unity and rejoice your cultural heritage.

As we near the end of the year 2017, we also want to congratulate you on many successes and accomplishments, and wish you success in the incoming 2018! We look forward to continuing to work with all of you to make our community in the United States stronger. Best wishes for a bright, happy and prosperous New Year 2018!

Sincerely,

USAN Board of Directors
