Azerbaijani Americans remember 9/11: We will never forget!
9/11 was one of the darkest pages of our history. Just within a few hours and at four locations, nearly 3,000 people died as a result of series of terrorist acts, instigated by ideological radicalism. Several Azerbaijani-Americans worked in the Twin Towers in New York. The U.S. Azerbaijanis Network (USAN) and our Azerbaijani-American and Turkish-American communities are in constant remembrance of the victims and those who sacrificed their lives saving others. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims.

As Americans, irrespective of religion or ethnicity, we were all attacked that day by terrorists. Being subjected to terrorism is not new to Azerbaijanis or Turks. For more than 50 years, thousands of Turks and Azerbaijanis fell victim to terrorist attacks by Armenian and Kurdish terrorist groups in Turkey and Azerbaijan, as well as in the United States and Western Europe. In 1988 to 1994, more than 25,000 Azerbaijanis were killed and close to a million displaced due to a military aggression from Armenia. Luckily, justice was served and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan was restored after a counter-terrorist operation in fall of 2020.

Please send this letter to your elected officials to express a message of sorrow, solidarity with all fellow Americans, and resilience to stand against terrorism.

Thank you!
