Urge Congress to Reauthorize Vital Legislation to Support Treatment of Substance Use Disorder
The SUPPORT Act, originally passed in 2018, provided huge investments in addressing substance use disorders nationwide. The program now needs to be reauthorized to continue vital funding to combat opioid overdose deaths, stigma surrounding addiction and more.

Among many important programs covered by SUPPORT reauthorization is HRSA’s Substance Use Disorder Treatment and Recovery (STAR) Loan Repayment Program, which provides up to $250,000 in loan repayment for those working in underserved and rural communities. As APA members, you are uniquely aware of the need to provide the resources necessary to address the ongoing workforce shortages in the current mental health crisis.

Please urge Congress to Reauthorize the SUPPORT Act (H.R. 4531/S. 3393) to address the vital need for more professionals to treat people suffering from substance use disorders.
