Psychiatry Residents Need Relief from Student Loan Interest
Congress needs to enact long-term solutions to ensure borrowers do not continue to be burdened with insurmountable student debt levels.

The Resident Education Deferred Interest (REDI) Act (H.R. 1202/S.704) is bipartisan legislation that, if passed, would allow borrowers to qualify for interest-free deferment on their student loans while serving in a medical or dental internship or residency program.  Lead by Senators Jacky Rosen (D-NV) and John Boozman (R-AR) in the Senate and Representatives Brian Babin (R-TX) and Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA) in the House, this legislation specifically addresses medical student debt and strengthens the physician workforce.
